Story Bridge Climb Review
Just looking at the height of Story Bridge, I would say I prefer to walk along the footpath on the west bank of climbing on the cantilever bridge! But how will I know if I can do it without even trying?
Game on! I joined a group and registered for the adventure climb! The first thing you need to know is that you need at the venue at least 15 minutes before the scheduled climb. There will be a short orientation and a video to watch. (No jewelry, accessories, or any stuff is allowed on the climb, and all your stuff is placed in individual, secured lockers.)
After your group is securely latched into the safety harness, it is time to ascend. The group leader gave us amazing facts about the Story Bridge and kept up a running commentary on the awe-inspiring views. As we summited the platform, we could see the 360 degree panoramic view of the Brisbane River, Moreton Bay, the Glass House Mountains, Mount Coot-tha, and the heritage listed Lamington National Park.
As for me, there was no chance to freak out because I was so taken with the excellent view! I felt zonked out after the 2 hour climb, but all I can say is it’s worth the climb, mate!
